Not something you see here every day, this. If the number plate data is correct, this is a 1979 Saab 96 V4. A 25 year aniversary edition even, for 25 years of Saab in the Netherlands.

No one who's sane of mind, could actually say that it's beautiful.

Why do you you think one of the last things that happened to Saab was a Subaru love child?
The universe always knew they must put the two greatest ugly duckling designs together for a last hurrah!

It looks like it came out of the mind of Wes Anderson.

Beautiful, no. Wonderful, yes...at least for the Swedes for whom it was originally intended.
Don't know about the spoiler on this teal beauty, though! ;)

On a side note... I was Google Image Searching for this model and noticed that you can hardly find any shots of the rear quarter. And it's not difficult to see why, it looks... I dunno, weird. Awkward.

Lens distortion. A little lower and you get this.
I like it!

Lens distortion? From a fixed focal length camera phone? I assume you mean perspective distortion.

I was kidding. On another forum I'm on. people are always blaming things on lens compression and other optical effects. I agree, that is a bad angle. It's not an ugly car...to me.

I don't have to be gentle ... it's a... honestly, it's a weird car. Certain aspects are really classic car, others are 80's-like modern touches. Like the rubber spoiler at the back and the plastic/rubber bumper.
In any western design, you subliminally expect certain ratios. Call it the Golden Cut, or Golden Ratio, but we kinda look for 1,6-to-1'ish proportions. This car comes with some design elements that thoroughly break with that convention.

Really cool how they still built these in 1979, and someone actually bought it. But that really is the wrong colour for that car..
